Whether you use your computer for personal or business purposes, it is important that you should have a data backup and disaster recovery plan. I know that may sound very much like a thing that you would find in an espionage movie. But really, ensuring that your computer, not just your important files and folders, have a backup in place can save you from a whole lot of hassle. For instance, when it crashes in times when you need it the most. Performing a full-disk image backup of your computer allows you to quickly get back to using your hard drive when it gets corrupted.

The Acronis True Image 2014 Personal Backup and Disk Management allows you to create a complete system backup and restores the exact configuration of your PC, from the operating system down to your most important files. It prides itself as an award-winning PC backup software, which has garnered raving reviews from numerous computer software and hardware review sites. I was able to visit some of these sites, and was able to find excellent recommendations and top marks about the Acronis True Image 2014 software. Expert Reviews even gave this particular edition a five-star rating in its December 2013 review.

User-friendly Interface

All of us are probably guilty of postponing the whole disk backup. For one, it can take quite a long time to finish and can be an intimidating task especially for those who are not so tech-savvy. But, disk imaging is a versatile option of backing up your computer as it creates a copy of everything that is on your computer drive into one single compressed file.

On the onset, one of the greatest standouts of Acronis True Image 2014 is its user-friendly interface. It is streamlined, simple to use and has default options, which makes it easy to use even for a disk imaging backup newbie. You will be presented with a three-panel window with the options of Backup System, Recover Data and Backup to Cloud. For intermediate users, all the advanced options are neatly organized in a dialog box. This way you will be able to complete a worry-free back-up of your PC and to restore all the exact configuration, operating system and your files.

Reliable Backups and Easy-click Restoration

Another great thing that I find excellent with Acronis is that after your initial backup, it will perform nonstop PC backups. Now, you might be concerned about slowing down or consuming a vast storage space of your computer.

But, Acronis allows you to choose from backup options to save on time and storage space. This includes incremental and differential backups, which only save changes made since your last backup. You also have the option of setting up backup scheduling and notifications.

Once you have made a backup of your computer disk, you can easily restore individual files or disk partitions by just clicking on a few buttons on the desktop interface.

Inclusive Free 5GB Cloud Storage

An added feature of the Acronis True Image 2014 is the inclusion of a free 5GB cloud storage. However, you should know that this free cloud storage is only available for the first year of the program. After the first year, you have to pay an annual subscription fee of $9.99. Also, the 5GB space may only be good for backing up your important files, and not a disk backup.

But, you can increase your cloud storage space and can choose between 50GB for $29.99 per year, 250GB for $49.99 and 500GB for $99.99 per year.

This added feature in the Acronis True Image 2014 is actually great because when it comes to file backup, redundancy is essential. This means that keeping multiple versions of your files is better. Just with any cloud storage service, you will be able to conveniently access all of your saved files anytime, anywhere using any type of mobile device.

And just like the Acronis desktop interface, the web interface of your cloud storage allows you to effortlessly restore files to your computer from the cloud. Also, your cloud storage account is secured with a personal key encryption. This means that you will be assured that all your saved files in the cloud are safe.

Other Great Features

What backup newbies should know is that an image backup should be stored in an external storage device, like a CD, USB flash drive or external hard drive. With the SecureZone feature, it allows you to store a full disk backup on your PC Drive and allows you to recover even when your operating system has failed.  This is actually another great feature of the product because it supports the importance of redundancy in backing up files and your disk. But, take note that it will require 512MB of your system memory.

Also, with its Try & Decide technology, it allows you to test drive any software or website before you decide to implement any changes to your system. Lastly, it is Windows 8 compatible, along with the other Windows OS starting from XP.

The Acronis True Image 2014 costs $49.99. This is inclusive of the complete backup and recovery solution, free 5GB cloud storage for one year and a customized DVD that contains all the software and license keys that comes with the package.

If you have used previous editions of the Acronis True Image, you can get an upgrade of the 2014 version for $29.99.

Acronis Free Trial Offer

If you are unsure whether Acronis True Image 2014 is the right disk backup solution for you, you can take advantage of their Free Trial offer. All you need to do is provide your email address.

Once you have entered your email address, the Acronis True Image 2014 installer will be automatically downloaded to your PC. It will only be activated by using the trial serial number that will be provided to you after you register with a free trial account. The same serial number will also be emailed to you. Also, the 5GB free storage will be activated for a 30-day trial period.

What is disappointing with the trial offer though is that it does not specify any details what will happen after the trial period ends. So, it is best that once you have performed the disk imaging of your PC, make sure that you immediately save the backup on to an external drive.

With its easy to use backup and restore feature, complemented with tons of new features and cloud storage, I believe that Acronis True Image 2014 is a software that is a definite must-try for those who are looking for the right disk backup system. The simple interface makes it an excellent choice for non tech-savvy and advanced users alike. Take advantage of the Acronis True Image 2014 Free Trial offer and see how it can save you from a potentially disastrous incident when your computer gets corrupted.
